Hahahaha! You do see the irony of what you have just posted, don't you. That's some funny shit! Seriously! I actually laughed out loud.

Sorry, I do not mean to offend you but I am obviously not succeeding. Have a good evening JW.

Yep, I realize this but Apple keep their phones in the iOS fold a lot longer and controlling product and software makes them stronger. So therefore Android is weaker ecosystem wise.

Slightly less shit battery life can do all that? Fuck me, even with my background I'm happy to learn something new about my day job - a large part of which now seems to rely on fuckwits swallowing technology-flavoured marketing garbage. That they get all irritated & defensive when they get called on it is a minor thing I guess we all have to live with.

Yep, I understood your point.

Mine was that once you are not running iOS8 you already have a compromised phone no matter how well it's built.

See, I told you you knew more than me! :o)

Time will tell FC, I think it always takes time for a new development to catch on at the software developers level.

For the record though. C&P from phonearena.com:-

Last week we told you how silicon slinger Qualcomm said that the 64-bit Apple A7 processor was a gimmick. Noting how the 64-bit architecture would only benefit those devices sporting 4GB of RAM or more (the Apple iPhone 5s makes do with 1GB of RAM), Qualcomm's Senvior VP and Chief Marketing Officer Anand Chandrasekher said that the 64-bit chip added nothing to the iPhone consumer's experience.

Qualcomm made him apologize and released the following statement.

"The mobile hardware and software ecosystem is already moving in the direction of 64-bit. The evolution to 64-bit brings desktop class capabilities and user experiences to mobile, as well as enabling mobile processors and software to run new classes of computing devices."-Qualcomm

Re: iPhone 6
You do realise why Android can't run their latest system on all phones don't you?
It's because of the wide variety of phones available, from top spec to cheap budget phones with a huge variety of different hardware, whereas iOS has to only work on erm, iPhones.

PH - The point I've been trying to put across (probably rather badly) is that the actual phone is better, i don't know anything about android so for me the Z3 for it's specs with the iOS8 would be perfect!
When i speak about the phone i'm just talking about the hardware!

I hear what you say def but I think you counter some of your own argument when you say that the Z3 with iOS8 would be the best of both worlds.

Android is a flawed OS because of it's patch quilt qualities. As I mentioned earlier, only the newest phones can run the latest version of Android. This makes it's 'eco system' weak.

I am not familiar with the Sony product so I can't comment but again, everyone to their own and if it isn't 64 bit technology it's old technology.

Re: iPhone 6
The way I see it is, a 64bit processor enables you to access more than 4GB of memory, and how much memory does the new iPhone have, unless I'm wrong, it's only 1GB?

Yes there are some esoteric programming capabilities that can use the extended word length that a 64 bit processor allows but this is talking about programs that are better served running on a desktop or a laptop, to me, it's overkill with no real world advantages?

In my opinion

PistonHammered 6:02 - I'm not an android user though, I've never used an android device.

I've had an Apple MBP for years, an iMac, iPads, loads of iPhones and an Apple TV!

I just think the Sony Z3 has better spec's than the iPhone 6 and is more future resistant!
After all most phone contracts are 2 years so an iPhone loses out with no 4k, being weatherproof , decent processor and battery amongst other things.

In an ideal world a Sony Z3 with iOS8 would be the best phone ever made!
Obviously not iOS 8.01 as it's flawed and has been pulled by Apple.

Far Cough 7:40 Thu Sep 25

FC, you are far more qualified to answer that than me, but may I suggest that if it was a pointless upgrade in technology then Samsung wouldn't be breaking their necks trying to emulate the very thing that Apple have achieved.

Handshaking at the processor level can be achieved at twice the speed meaning that the clock speed can be slowed down without compromising app speed. This could and does result in two core uPC running as fast as 4 core uPCs and this will result in less power consumption.and so on and so on.

64 bit technology is better than 32 bit for a reason, it is not a fashion statement.

Far Cough 7:40 Thu Sep 25
Re: iPhone 6
What can a 64 bit processor do that a 32 bit processor can't?

I'm talking real world applications here

Joke Whole 6:52 Thu Sep 25

Joke, I could not care less if you "look at me" or not, you're making a silly, emotional statement.

Why would I want to carry something as powerful as a desktop PC in my pocket? What i funny thing to say, especially someone from your back ground. After all, who would want to carry a phone around in our pockets when we have home phones, office phones and phone booths! At least that could have been an opinion back in the sixties. The answer is pretty fucking obvious! It's called convenience and it will be convenient to carry these computers around as developers write apps for them. The computing power of an iPhone will change our lives for the good and possibly the detriment of us all. Health, banking, communication, entertainment etc will progress in leaps and bounds because of the power of 64 bit technology. And it won't stop there as companies try to push to the front of the technology line.

So, back to my point, Android may be the phone for you, every man to their own, but the iPhone is a more advanced product than the Android. That is all I am trying to point out. Claims that Android is a technically better phone are just silly, emotional outbursts made by irrational people that want to fight for their cause. Good for them!

If you enjoy the phone you carry and it does the job the way you want it to then all is happy in the world. Who cares if I don't prefer Android, who cares if you hate Apple. It's a meaningless conversation in a world of personal choice.

Joke Whole 6:52 Thu Sep 25
Re: iPhone 6
Why the fuck would you want a desktop computer in your pocket?

What on earth would you be doing whilst on the move to require such performance AT ANY TIME during the phone's useful lifetime?

That smacks of "LOOK AT ME!" of the highest order and you'd probably have to go back to the days of analogue phones the size of house-bricks to find a comparable attitude.

Still...it's amazing what some people feel gives them status & meaning in the world.

Hate to shatter your world.

Oh no! Say it ain't so!! Waaaa!

Like I said 13, funny shit.
People in the Android world don't have a clue what's happening in the iOS/OSX world.
The new iPhone 6 is the closest thing to a desktop computer in your pocket and Apple's platforms get closer with each development. Android lost this race as soon as Apple went to 64 bit, and yet there are knuckleheads that refer to screen size and spout stupidity like "welcome to 2012". It really is quite laughable. But hey, what ever floats your boat, i couldn't give a fuck. My only point is the constant bitching about Apple and how wonderful Android is. Fuck, most Android phones out there aren't even running the latest version FFS.

Keep the daft comments coming though, Android supporters, it's all very amusing.

US $199 price is on a contract, whereas UK £529 is unlocked and you can then choose a SIM only plan from any provider, so not directly comparable.

LTE works on different bands around the world so if you want 4G in the UK you need a UK phone.
